Polymer clay canes are a length of clay in which a design has been created by an artist.  The design runs throughout the cane and commonly slices are taken off the cane to embellish a clay surface.   Making polymer clay canes is one of the many fascinating things that can be done with polymer clay!  Cane slices are used on the surface of clay to create a pattern. 

To best utilize the clay slicer, a goal quickly becomes cutting full uniform thin cane slices.  Poly-Tools offer two styles of polymer clay cane slicer products to assist with getting those slices.  Our economy cane clay slicer offers an aluminum frame with a sliding work surface. A ruler placed under the work surface allows precision movement for consistant polymer clay bead making. With a few minutes practice using a log of solid colored clay, it is quickly learned how easy it is to slide the polymer clay canes forward with finger control, using the end of the frame to guide a polymer clay cane slicer straight down through the cane.
