How to use geometric shape cutters to color clay

Cover an aluminum
square with a sheet
of 1/8" thick clay.

Trim clay to size of
the square. Cover the clay
with plastic. Plastic deli
sheet paper works well.

Cut shape you wish to
use. Press hard, through
the plastic.

Remove plastic from clay. Remove excess clay.

Set a cutter over a
portion of  the shape.
Apply pigment powder
inside the cutter with
a soft brush.

Move the cutter and color
inside the cutter with
powder.
Continue moving the
cutter, change
colors as desired.
Overlap other areas as
desired.
You can turn the cutter
upside down and press
into the clay just to
leave an imprint.
Continue to use either
edge of the cutter to
add texture for interest.
Coloring and texture
complete.
